I forgot to wright "PS4" on the end...sorry.

I'm low on cash.

I want a gaming PC that's cheap but is just as good as the next gen consoles.

I was thinking something like this, If that's not as good as the PS4 then I can go a bit higher in budget. I don't have a legitimate budget but I don't want to pay more then I have to, I got bills to pay.

Looks good, this is way better than the next gen consoles. You could go for a 500w psu because 450w seems like a bit of a tight squeeze for a 7870 but then it is antec so you should be fine with 450w . I'm running 2 480s on a 750w antec and my computer works flawlessly. Nice computer building skills, this is a great rig for the price, I might recommend that to a friend of mine who's building a pc.

Nice, but this is one of those cases I would say, go for a console of you are only going to game. It will probably play games a fair bit worse than the PS4 even if it is similarly speced.

Yes but then you can upgrade it down the road, and it offers more functionality than a ps4. You can't really go wrong with getting a gaming pc instead of a console.

What's so weak about that computer? It could play bf3 maxed out at 1080p at 40-50 fps which is what a ps4 would do except the graphics on the ps4 are not as good. The cpu might not be the best but it's enough not to bottleneck the video card. And since when is a 7870ghz edition weak? Sure it's not a titan but it's still a strong card. Most gamers don't have graphics cards that get even close to 7870's performance and they can still play games.
 
For the money it's not a bad try at all, even if the CPU, board and case are a little low-end.

If you could spend just a bit more on those things it would probably be better.
 
I would go with a refurbished 210 source if on a serious budget. SpringWater, you ovbiously have no idea what you are talking about. This PC is actually quite similar to a PS4, but a console will perform much better because of great optimazations. Watch Dogs might play at decent settings with a 7870 on the PC, but a PS4 will be able to play it maxed most likley.

This is a great advice in my opinion.
Would change to:
Gigabyte GA-F2A85XM-HD3: $65 after MIB
and see if you could buy a CPU cooler and OC that CPU.

I know it doesn't support new FM2+ CPUs, but, no offense, OP doesn't strike me as a person that would upgrade CPU once the build is done.
 
I spent a long time doing research on the performance differences between consoles and PC...

Apparently you need twice the CPU+GPU on a PC to match a console....even this big shot named "John Carmack" said so.

I did some math to calculate what kind of CPU and GPU would it take to match.

GPU: The ps4 has a GPU that has 1.84 teraflops, x2 that and you get 3.68 teraflops. The 7970 has 3.79 teraflops at $280 so I think I'm going with that.

CPU: The PS4/xbox1 CPU is in between a A4-5000 and A6-5200, that would about make it a benchmark 2179.5 on cpubenchmark.net. The PS4/xbox1 are using 2 of the same CPU so lets multiply that benchmark by 2 which equals 4359. Now lets multiply that by 2 again because it takes x2 performance for a PC to match a console and you have 8718. I say any CPU above 8718 on cpubenchmark.net would be good enough to match the next gen consoles, so CPUs such as the fx8350 or E3-1230 V2.

I might get something like this when I can afford it.

That CPU is going to melt that motherboard.
Here's a good general rule of thumb (you shouldn't stick to it 100%, always use common sense):

CPU: $100
Mobo: $65
GPU: $200

Applies to most common gaming builds, with exceptions of course. (the ratio applies, not the actual $)

Lowest end motherboard I would suggest for an FX-8350 is the Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3

I would really change a few things:
FX-8350 -> FX-8320
Biostar -> Gigabyte
Rosewill FBM-01 -> NZXT Source 210 Windowed

Otherwise it looks good.

While computers have their advantages, at the money you're willing to spend, I would just get the PS4. A few years down the line the PS4 is going to game better than the hardware you build this year. An "equivalent" spec wise the a PS4 is an FX 8320 and a 7850, just like I have. Now that won't mean equal performance, because that's just now how it works. Console games are coded to work directly with the hardware they have and are thus way more efficient. If you took a triple core CPU and half a gig of RAM with a video card from 2006, it wouldn't even launch modern games like Skyrim or BF3 but that the Xbox can play fine with the equivalent hardware.

Just my thoughts, your budget doesn't allow for a "as good as" a PS4.

If you can save some more, then get a PC though.
 
^ I agree with this. For low budgets, I'll recommend consoles for gaming unless you really really want a PC.
