Need a cheap school Laptop

Ok, I have a home built desktop that I use for everything from gaming to photos and video. What I need now is a cheap small/lightweight laptop to carry to school to just do school work on. I ride a motorcycle so i would really like something small and lightweight but I don't want to spend over $500. All this computer will be doing is running Microsoft office and surfing the net. I've looked a little at some netbooks like the Acer Aspire one and the MSI wind but I don't know if the keyboard is too small for me to type notes on, and of course no one carries them locally. Any ideas?
 
for class, go for the smallest , lightest, thinnest lapop you can.
battery life is essential.
a screen over 15" is pointless.

if you are a biker go for something which looks sturdy
 
I'd say go with a 12.1 or 14.1" laptop. Anything less is a pain to look at and anything more is a pain to carry around.
 
Take a look at the Averatec's. They aren't the best quality, but if you are just using it for simple school stuff (net access, Word, etc) they are thinm light and real cheap.
