Need a good laptop for under $1000

I need a laptop for balanced purposes but mainly I want it to be fast so when I click on something it opens or runs right away with no lag. I will game on it too and do some photoshop stuff on it. Also what is better for a laptop AMD Turion 64 or Intel Core 2 Duo. 2GB of Ram would be preferable and a 15.4 inch screen. Main thing is No Lag cause my freind got a laptop at gateway and it has 2GB of Ram still lags like bad. Battery life is also an issue

if you want a good computer for a low price get it of of www.deals2buy.com it updates evey day and sometimes thare are mega deal its not up but my uncle got an ultra slim dell laptop with 2ghz core 2 duo,2gbram, vista home premium, 120gb hard drive, a good intel graphics card for only 600 bucks thats hard to beat, dont get acer get anything dell, trust me
