Need a good quiet computer (1700 budget)

Modern HHD hard drives create little to no noise especially when there inside the computer case. The case fans are what create a majority of the noise. I find the case fans with the enlobal bearings or magnetic barometric bearings to be real quiet. Slower moving large fans arent a bad choice either.

They still create a decent amount of noise. A more feasible and cheaper way of making a hard drive quiet is to buy a vibration dampener. You basically mount the hard drive in a case which mounts in a 5.25" drive bay.

FOund a hot case deal 60 bucks A/R - Free Shipping for an Antec 900. Enough people on this site can tell you if it's quiet or not - but it's got a good reputation - and a TON OF REVIEWS on Newegg.

Free Shipping to boot

The Antec 900 is not a quiet case. It uses an all open design which allows basically any choice produced inside out. The P182 uses a triple layer composite panel that dampens any high pitch noise.

antec 900 can be quiet if you drop all the fans too low speed but it not the most quiet!!

the design of the antec range is very good for cooling but the fans they supply are loud, im guessing if you got the 900 and swapped the standard fans for some high quality silent fans it would improve the situation

Can you give me a link to that case? Only one I can find is a cheap antec case

I am not into gaming but have you ever thought about water cooling?

No need for noisy fans, cools down faster & more efficient.

Hope this helps *

But you also need fans to cool the radiators. Often times these fans are louder as more static pressure is needed to force air through the tight fins of the radiators.

Your thinking of the p180

Much better looking than the p183 in my mind

I think the P182 looked the best, I don't like the new front door of the 183.

Wow, thats exactly what I was looking for. :D

Now I just need some good fans to put in there and figure out what to do with VGA cooling ><

These fans:

I have 2 of them in my case and I can say that they are by far the best quiet fans I have ever used. And what video card do you have?

Sorry if its been mentioned, but can't you buy some kind of foam for the case for it to absorve vibration and some sound? I think that would be cheap :D

You can, but the foam that actually works usually costs around $100 per kit. Also they work the best if your case has been designed for quiet operation, ie. no random vents everywhere.
