or wait a few days and see if the 7900gtx is better than the X1900XT. 7900 come out tom. march 9th. its estimated they will cost ~$600 on release or maby less.
The X1900XT is a great card, and i'm sure the 7900 series will be as well, but don't expect any card you buy today to be able to run new games at high settings in 2-3 years.
