Hey guys. I was wanting now what a good AMD X2 mobo would run me. Right now I'm looking at the DFI LAN Party right now... but my friends are telling me that I would be spending too much on it. Any really good X2 mobo's out there that arn't real expensive?

thankx

Almost all S939 motherboards support X2 after a flash if not out of the box. The price on the Lanpartys are definetly worth it IMHO.

By the way the non eXpert SLI-DR is almost as good as the eXpert and alomost $40 cheaper.

-Could I "flash" it and make it run the X2 series?
yes

The ultra-d will boot with a dual core CPU. But it wont see both cores untill you flash the BIOS.
Depends on the BIOS rev the board ships with. My X2-3800 required a flash, my X2-4200 did not.

Thanks dude. Now is this a pretty good motherboard for gaming? Or should I get a more top-of-the-line Asus? Or should I just stick with the DFI LAN Party?
Well top of the line ASUS, being defined as ASUS A8N32SLI or A8RMVP (even tho its profiled as midrange) would be ideal as would the DFI NF4U and DFI NF4SLI boards
