Need A (Less) Bright Idea...

How do I make my desktop Wxp screen not so bright? I am finding it strains my eyes staring at it. I know there is something you can download that makes all the white areas on pages turn black or darker. This would be helpful to me.

that helps a little, but I had this thing on my desktop that got deleted that was rather novel in that it turned it all dark--I can't remember the site to download it from or what they called it.
