Need a little advice on my build

Okay ... I think I am good to go! Thanks so much for your help. This machine is going to do a great job for me.

I'm looking into Windows OS now ... My brother has a Windows 8 Update disk, so I'm going to try to find a cheap copy of Windows XP as a base for the upgrade.

Cheers!

I absolutely will. I think I'm buying it all tonight. I decided to buy Windows 8 OEM from NewEgg, too...might as well keep it easy.

Oh, one last question. I watched that video of the case you recommended. It comes with 2 fans, and 3 expansion spots. Do you think it is necessary to buy any more fans?

Thanks!

Wow good for you dude. You don't need anymore fans as the exhaust fans will also draw air into the case. If you were to buy an extra fan I would put it on the side of the case blowing air towards your cpu and graphics card, it might help keep them a little cooler under heavy load.

I was just about to pull the trigger, and decided to add a 4 pack of fans to the list ... they're check enough. I have 2 last questions.

First, does this micro tax motherboard accommodate more fans?

Second, I was just wondering if a 600W power supply would be sufficient power for this machine. If I ever wanted to install more hardware into the case, would I need a more powerful power supply?

Thanks so much!

Trying to get you the best for your budget meant choosing a PSU that would suffice, but no more. If you were to upgrade to a more powerful GPU or you started to add many HDD's and other pci cards, it would be best to look in the 800 watt range to be on the safe side.
About the fans, this depends on the type of connectors the fans in the case and the fans you are intending to buy use. If they are using 4 pin molex connectors then they can be easily connected to the psu, but if they use 3 pin headers they will need to be connected to the motherboard. Many fans come with both or come with adapters.
On the mobo, I only see one connector for a additional fan, not including the one for the cpu of course.

No, they look like they only connect to the 3 pin connectors.
You have 3 options:
1. Buy an adapter
2. Buy a fan controller
3. Buy a different mobo

I guess it wouldn't be very difficult to get a new power supply if I ever wanted to expand in the future.

This machine, for what it is should be screaming, right?

I just want to make sure that I have some future proofing in place, and that I'm not locked into a computer that will eventually be very difficult to upgrade and spruce up.

Thanks again for all of your replies!!

The case only has room for 4 fans, 2 are included with the case and the best way to connect up fans is to use a fan controller, they are usually quite cheap.
Don't worry too much about future proofing other than gpu and ram upgrades. By the time you want to upgrade the new cpu's will be on different sockets and maybe we will be on ddr4.
I will look at mobos too.

Okay, I found some motherboards that are slightly more expensive, but perhaps have more expansion capabilities, and can accommodate the case fans and some other ones... what do you think of these:

Also, what do you think about this PSU:

CHEERS!

Oh, I didn't see your last reply. I guess your recommendation is to keep the PSU and MOBO the way we configured it earlier?

Sorry for the additional questions.

Heres the next mobo I would recommend: ASRock B85M Pro4 Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard
Trying to reach all these connector on the mobo might be a challenge and depending on the lengths of the cables on the fans, might not be possible, theres no way for me to be sure. If you want to use 4 fans then a fan controller would be your best option.
NZXY Sentry Mesh fan controller $21.24

And keep the PSU the same?

Its up to you.
Does buying a better PSU mean you need cut back on something else?
You could save money by buying only one stick of 8gb ram for now and then buying more at a later date, its easy enough to do.
