Ok i hooked up a router and got it passworded and everything. Now I notice my landlords have a router set up which they said i coud use, wirelessly, if thats a word. I notice that their internet actually seems faster. I'm not sure what speed they have but I was wondering if the router can help you get the most out of your speed? Currently watching videos can be a problem as they do not load fast enough and therefore cause the the video to pause. Anything??

Yes, a router could help or hinder your network performance. For the most part they're pretty similar, but lots of factors can come into play when it comes to network performance. However, before anything else, I'd check the actual internet performance. Unless you both share the same service and data-rates, they could very well have a faster internet connection than you. The easist way to check this is to bypass the router and connect directly to the modem. Test your internet speed there doing the same tasks as with the router and compare the speeds.

Ok sounds good. I will try this later. Now assuming that its my router hindering my internet what can I do?? I have a Linksys BEFWHS4.
