Ok I have $1500 to spend and I need everything. I want to play games such as Half-Life 2, Battlefield 2, etc. I have an idea of what to buy but I would like some experienced advise. This computer will be assembled by myself so I just need a list of parts. Thanks. :D

Get an AMD processor since it sounds like u wanna play games. You get also a nice 7800 GTX card with that.

if you can afford it, go amd 64 x2, if you cant, just get an amd 64 3500+ or better. And get a 7800GT or 7800GTX, and at least 1GB of ram, and at least a 160GB Hard Drive.

sounds like a 1000/500 split?
1000 on machine 500 on moniter speakers mouse keyboard
i'll try to find something for 1000 that is gaming orientated, wait, first, could u also include what else u want to do with it, like how big the hard drive should be, if u need a dvd burner, tv tuner ect. ect.

Well it will be for gaming and school work, I would like a cd burner but a dvd burner is not required and nither is a tv turner. Another thing is I believe I could find a mouse, keyboard, speakers, monitor, and possibly OS that I could use till I get more cash for them. I don't need high quality sound so yeah.

well, lets just say that u need 300 for moniter keyboard ect. ect.
that leaves:
cpu: $350
GPU: $350
hdd: $150
cd burner: $30
case: $80
ram: $150
mobo: $100

a bit of money to spare, i don't have time to newegg it.

amd x2 4000, ASUS Sli Motherboard, geforce 6800 video card, 1GB ram, 200GB western hard drive, now just get a cdrw/dvd thingy, a case, mouse/keyboard, and your set. Then when you get more money, the SLI motherboard lets you have 2 x Video cards, a pcgamer must.

I would get a slightly better monitor, a good gaming monitor, I believe, should have a respnose time less than 16ms.

yeah that is just extra I have an older CRT monitor that I could use until I get more money but yeah I was thinking I should get a better monitor any suggestions? Also I was doing some research and the DFI lanparty sli motherboard gets better scores in many testing categories, should I go Asus or DFI why?

p8ntballsnyper, not bad setup, but i'd go with xp pro. u completely 4got to add in memory. i'm know there are cheaper 5.1 speaker systems. heck, i found a 7.1 system for 82. you'd probably want a SATA hard drive. for the case and monitor you might actually save some money buying them at a nearby store because then you don't have to pay the huge shipping costs. dropping one of those 6800's off will really save you some money and you'll be able to play all the games you mentioned just fine. Two would be awesome, but having a budget kinda sux sometimes.

Oh Oh computer won't run without memory, 1 Gig of good stuff. Around $160.
Check out how those speakers sound up against others like the Klipsch.

man I can't believe I forgot ram Ill add that. So things to look at are RAM, different speakers, a different monitor , xp pro and sata HDD, oh and dropone of the 6800s. The thing is that there aren't really any good cases at my local stores but I will check on that again. Thanks guys for all the advise and I'll get back to you guys with the new setup. If you can think of anything else just post it. :D

Here is the new list tell me how it is:

I checked the stores and they don't have any cases I like.

The monitor is going to be bought at a store though.

much better. do u really need 7 surrounds though. i'm completely happy with my 2.1 jbl creature speakers. and while i did say that i found those speakers cheap, i doubt they sound very good at all or that tehy will last very long. did you read any reviews on those speakers?
