OK so I'm going to purchase a desktop as soon as I figure out what I need.

But I don't know what I want, I need something that's good for gaming and video editing.
Need a decent graphics card, processor, and needs to be able to burn dvds.

I'm not trying to spend more than 1,000$

Please and Thank You!

what games do you plan to play on it?

And, ill go ahead and say it now. Your better off building than buying. Its a lot cheaper and you will have a lot better quality with it.

Definitely build your own. It's best to do a load of research before you spend money on anything. Read around the forum here and see what people are recommending. All the stickies contain a wealth of information when it comes to building a computer and choosing parts. Nevertheless, here's what I recommend for $1000. I'll assume it's just for a tower, no monitor or keyboard/mouse.

The main thing you want is a quality motherboard and powersupply. Everything else can be upgraded easily, but it's better to have a quality motherboard with nice features and a good unit powering everything, over buying junk and replacing it every month.
