Need a new monitor

I need to get a new monitor for my HP Pavilion m7750n. I really want a LED monitor and have my eyes set on the samsung px2370 or the ASUS MS238H.
As far as I can tell, my computer only has a vga port and no dvi or hdmi port.

Does this mean I cannot have a hidef video on a monitor. Or if i get a vga to dvi converter, it will only show analog video?

Is there a way I can install an hdmi port on my computer?

You have to pretend I am stupid.

Thanks for your time.

oh, I am currently using the crt monitor ( compaq 7550) that came with my current computer and a tube is loose so its always out of sync colorwise.

400 Watts.. I want a digital picture. 1080p

A Geforce 9400GT or 9500GT should be able to run with your power supply... Just look around. They aren't too expensive.

Geforce 9500GT $59.99 on Newegg

You would just need a DVI to HDMI adapter. And For monitors, look for something like this:
ASUS Monitor $189.99 on Newegg

Anybody else looking at this forum, correct me if a 9500GT can't run on a 400W Supply, I can't find how many watts the card needs.

Ok, so you are saying I need a new video card.

Wouldn't it be better to get a video card with a hdmi port. I saw that the cards you listed as only having dvi ports.

Am almost certain that I have a pci express slot. So any pci express card, with a power suppy requirement of 400 watts or less will work in my computer?

Also, are certain video cards only compatible with certain types of ram, or it does not matter what type of ram you have (...any ram will work with any video card)?

Do I need to take the current video card (NVIDIA GeForce 6150 LE) out of the computer if I install a new video card in the pci express port? Or can the original card be left in the computer?

My 32 bit vista system can only use 3.3 megs of ram--I was told. I recently installed a 2nd stick of ram into my computer for a total of 4 megs of ram. I also read that a 32 bit system can only use a total of 4 megs of ram regardless if its ram or video ram. With that said, does it matter that I get a card with 512 megs of ram or 1 gig of ram.

Thanks for your time.

Well, If you want HDMI right in the card look at this:
Sapphire Radeon HD 5450
It has Support for DX11, and Eyefinity.
and, Here are a couple videos of the card:

Powercolor Radeon HD 5450 DirectX 11 Video Card Unboxing & First Look
ATI Radeon HD5450 Graphics Card Video Review

Also, do you plan on playing anygames? Or just basic computer usage?

Edit 1: Yes, you would need to take your GeForce out, and unplug it from the MoBo.
Edit 2: Sorry for giving you videos of different brand cards... >.>

Cool. That's a really good card... Simple, cheap and up to date.

Would that work on the motherboard I got installed in my computer? The original one blew out. This is it...S-series M61PME-S2P

That video card has pci 2.0? While I think my motherboard is pci 1.0.

Mostly just basic computer usage. But if I get the urge to go out and buy the latest graphics intensive game, I want to be able to play it.

This is the specs on my comp.

I'm not sure if that motherboard supports PCI-E 2.0. I don't think it matters a whole lot though.

The HD 5450 is NOT meant for new games at all, but If you want to play some new games on decent settings look at this card:

ATi Radeon HD 5670

Here is another video from PCWizkid on the HD 5670

$%&...sent an e-mail to the makers of my motherboard and this is what they said

PCI-E

Read through there, I think they are backwards compatible.
