Ok. i got a computer from a friend for free. i use it to play Video games and streaming. Well i opened league of legends and my frame rate on the lowest setting was 30 where on my laptop its 60 fps Minimum all the time. All my driver on the desktop are completely updated. Someone told me its my processor. Then he told me i cant just get any processor i need one that matches the one i have and my tower. He said i should get a quad core or an i7. no idea. Can anyone help me find a motherboard and processor at newegg that matches what i need and what i use it for at a cheap price. He also told me its cheaper going this way instead of buying a whole new computer

----(I use this computer for gaming, league of legends, diablo 3, world of warcraft, ect. I also like to STREAM my gaming at websites like Twitch.tv and stickam.com so i need someting that will handle the streaming.) I currently have the comcast extreme 50mbps upload speed.

This is what i currently have

Asus Motherboard a8n-sli se, Amd athlon x2 64 3800+processor, asus sound card, 4 gb memory, Windows 7 operating system, Geforce 9600 GSO 512mb Video card with extra Geforce 8600 GT 512 video card, LG Dvd/Cd Burner

Both the graphics and the processor need upgrading, but graphics first, don't buy an i7 for gaming, get the i52500k/ i5 2550k, if you get a new Mobo, you will need to get a new copy of Windows. What's your budget?

well im looking to buy the cheapest thign that will help me stream. I already have a few copies of windows.

I need a budget here.....the cheapest option is to keep what you already have.

But what i have is lagging me when i stream music or my gaming and giving me 30 fps. What would u upgrade next? processor? if so what processor fits my mother board? or should i just replace the mother board and processor?

Given you are running an Athalon, I would say go for a new mobo and processor, as well as graphics if possible, but i need a budget for any kind of recomendations

basically you need a new rig in total.
just find a cheap z68 or z77 board. Gigabyte has a new z77 thats quite cheap.
then get an i3 sandybridge like the 2100 if its for lightweight gaming, or just the 2500k which is better as it will last longer and OC's better.
graphics, you could settle with 560/560ti/570 or wait for mid range 600 gtx series.
PSU, get a good brand like Corsair, XFX, coolermaster. lots of people here can help with that.
ram, 8GB will be more than fine.
and a simple case with good airflow, like a Thermaltake armor v4 Black edition or something.

just throwing ideas out there!

As others have said, you basically need a whole new system. Here's my ideas for the cheapest components that would do well at what you're looking to do:

Processor - i3 2100

Motherboard - like someone else said, a cheap z68/z77 board

Memory - 4GB

Video Card - gtx 550 Ti or something like a 5770 or equivalent

The above components together would cost around $300-325. You have to understand that the rig your friend gave you is old and a dead-end socket, and nothing you upgraded in it would make any difference. For example, you couldn't simply upgrade the processor to something even remotely modern and "be good there." It's an all or nothing sort of deal. The salvageable parts (that you may or may not want to replace) would be your drives, case, and MAYBE the psu if you're both lucky and/or want to risk it. And it's definitely possible that you could run into issue even with the drives - need to buy an adapter, compatibility issues, etc. The core components (cpu, mobo, memory, and in your case video card) would have to be completely replaced as a package deal.

In short, you need a new system. On the bright side, at least you got 3 copies of Windows. :)

The suggestion of a 550Ti or 5770 is not ideal, look for a 256-bit memory bus enabled gtx460, it will smack both those down for about the same money.
