I'm currently running windows xp home edition. 32 bit

I would like to upgrade to Vista, but I have heard there are a bunch of problems with it.

What do you think?

Get vista with the windows 7 upgrade coupon then when windows 7 comes out just upgrade. I don't see anything wrong with Vista I have been using it since the day it came out and have never looked back.

Upgrade to vista???
lol would be more like a downgrade anywho windows 7 is coming out soon and is alot better then Vista so personally id wait

PS why do you think you need to upgrade?

I'm not sure. Just feels like XP is too old now and I like the newer look of vista.

is there anything wrong with upgrading, serious question.

No there is nothing wrong with upgrading just make sure you back up all of your stuff just in case you never know. I will be upgrading to windows 7 for my next build right now I'm going to stay with Vista. I am currently trying to install Linux but can seem to get it to work for me. So if I ever do get that to work and I like it I will probably make it my main OS and just use windows for games and such.

I think I'll wait for Windows 7 to come out as well.

Is there any way I can get a new HD and put windows 7 on that, or will that totally mess with my main HD?

Of course you can you can have as many OS as you like. My friend has XP, Vista, Windows 7 RC, and 2 different Linuxes on a 1TB hard drive. All on different portions of course. Yea just when you install windows 7 just make sure you pick your new HDD for it to install on.

There's nothing wrong with Vista. There were issues when it first came out but most of those issues were because software manufacturers were lazy about getting drivers made. Anyway, most programs are compatible with Vista now.

Anyway, what are the specs of your computer?

If you don't have at least a couple gigs of RAM, you will not have the greatest experience running Vista or Windows 7.

Well, Im currently running on a Pentium 4 processor.. haha at 3.00 Ghz

I have 2.50 Gb of RAM 512mb of it is factory in the Dell Dimension and the other 2Gb are G.skill ddr2's.

My next build will out perform this in a heartbeat. Started ordering the parts =]

What about graphics?

I'll bet your onboard graphics won't support Aero, which will dramatically decrease your Windows experience.
