After fighting tooth and nail over getting a new computer, I lost agaisnt my dad. So I'm stuck with a AMD Athalon XP 3200+ 2.21GHZ (OC), Ati x800xt All in wonder, and 1GB ( i have a 512 and maybe ill add it later) ram. I wanted it because of a LAN party coming up but I'll have to improvise. With my CPU and Ram I want a new video card that will hold me over for 5-6 months. My budget is up to $150 though a little over is okay if justifiable for only using for 5-6 months. Basically what I want is to play the new games on Medium settings ( NO AA needed).( COD 4, Crysis(medium low settings maybe), Team Fortress 2) and potentially hold me over for Q1 and maybe Q2 2008. Something that will make it playable and okay looking. I'm looking for DX9 ( DX10 card is okay if it has value) What would be a good card to get to hold me over?

My MObo has 6 PCI slots and 1 AGP slot. no PCI-e

Basically AGP I guess...

thanks.
Yeah I know, but I want to play crysis. I hope to enjoy the real eye candy when I get my new system right before college, but for now, im sick of playing CS Source and Starcraft...

If I were you, i'd look for a 7800GS 2nd hand or so. I'm pretty sure there are still plenty around from people who upgrade to a pci-e system still, and you'd be getting a card wich you're only using for 6months anyway much cheaper :)

I was looking up the geforce 7800 GS and it doesnt appear to be any better than the x800xt i bought a few years ago o.O

Well I don't really know though. So Help me whittle it down between these two. Im leaning towards the x1950 pro though.
