Hello everyone im new to this forum :). I need some suggestions on what ATI video card to get. My mother board is pretty new so i can handle most if not all cards. My limit is 180.00 so i want the best card that i can buy. Also i want something that i can easily over clock. :)

If its a quality power supply. 180 bucks is a inbetween price bracket for ATI. A DriectX 10 4870 and DirectX 11 5770 is pretty close. The 4870 is slightly faster but the 5770 is DirectX 11. Then you jump up to a 5830 for around 220 bucks. There is a 4890 for around 190/200 bucks but their supply is getting low.

Ok new update now i have 210 dollars to spend Dont know if that makes much of a difference lol
What sort of power supply do you have(read: brand/model)? You dont want to be running a dedicated card on a cheap off brand unit.

If your psu is from a decent brand, then i'd recommend seeing if you cant save up another ~$30 or so for the 5830, well worth it over a 4870/5770 IMO:

yeah thats what im using 4890 1gb you can find a used one for about $120.00-130.00.
if you can find a used 4850 that would be great i bought a used one for $65.00.
with the extra money buy a nice psu like a pc cooling or corsair 750 watt. but dont buy a used psu.

You need some popular brand power supply in order not to worry about having issues with it in the future. In my opinion you should be looking first for new power supply and then for new video card.

Damn i thought i had a decent PSU but i guess not :( I decided im getting the 5770 Card. I plan on getting another PSU very soon and my card once my taxes come back. I guess im getting the corsair PS too. Thanks for all you help everyone. Ive been out of the PC performance side since 2004.
