Need a suggestion

that my friend is a sempron with a 4200 rpm hd with onboard video card = not good
check out the dell inspiron 600m.

I have an Averatec 3270 that I've been very pleased with. Specs are below if your intersted. Ah, and it cost me about $700. The only problem is the video card is crap, but it works fine for what I need it for.

dell inspiron 600m
Pentium M 1.6 ghz
radeon 9000 64 mb of ram
40 gb harddrive 5400 rpm
256 mb pc2700 ram. (you can order ram from somewhere else besides dell)

plays counter-strike with 200 fps and 100fps constant.

grand total out the door (actually mailed to me) = 824$

Hehe, if CS wasn't so large and such a pain to install, I might try it on here. It woul dbe kind of funny to see how it runs on here. This video card is crap :P

actually if you download steam from www.steampowered.com
counter-strike 1.6 can be loaded and ready to play in like 5 minutes. its not like cs 1.1 - 1.4 from back in the day.

well i dont think the dell would be quite how the video producer that i wanted, since well, playing cs is not really comparable to graphic design, and 3-modeling, not that i will do alot of that, but i might do some on occasion. I would also like to steer clear of dell, simply because, any customization on my part would be a pain in the ass, and well i dont like dell at all.. i may be able to bring it up to $1k but thats probably as high as I can go

to answer you questions about 3-D modeling.
i am an engineer and do auto cad and 3D max on my dell along with every photoshop product. i used cs as an example because it is very graphics card demanding.

about customization. its a laptop. laptops are not customizable. it is not like a desktop. you are free to change the ram, minipci wireless card, and that's about it.

about you don't like dell. have you owned a dell laptop?
