Need advice for first build

I am building a computer for the first time and I need some advice. I will be using the computer primarily for video editing. I would like to be able to upgrade over time (aka when I scrounge up the cash). I started with an $800 budget, but this is as cheap as I could get for the quality I want. Advice about cheaper equivalents, parts compatability, etc. appreciated.

Might want to look at an i5-750 build for the processor, from what i've heard, it will be faster than the AMD 965.

Also, that case, might want to try a HAF 922, its about the same price.

On board sound is plenty good enough for most, but thats personal preferance.

Good choice on the power supply and ram. Give me about 30 and I will find a way to make the whole build cheaper for ya. Where you live? What state
 
HDD: 7200.12 would be better.
Soundcard: i haven't heard of that brand before. your onboard already got 7.1, why you need usb sound card??
Case and PSU: What brand is that? I generally not recommend PSU come with case.
 
Thanks for the reply! I live in Virginia. I had a buddie tell me that I would be better off with an AMD build because the prices are lower for the speed. I don't really know a whole lot about building computers...I took some classes in high school...a long time ago.

I'll take your advice and leave out the sound card.

Going to check out that case...
 
The HAF 922 seems great...little more expensive but worth it from what I can tell.

I was planning on using "Windows 7 Home Premium" if you know what I mean.

I am going to cut backl to 4g on the ram, the PSU I just didnt know, and I think going with one card would be better but as again I didn't know.

After reading up on the i5-750, it looks like it's really geared toward graphics and imaging...thanks for the direction!!

The NAF 922 is a nice case, but I would like to see what I can get in the $50 range.

^That, looks like a pretty decent build except for a few areas where there are odd/overpriced choices.

I would swap the GPU out to a Saphire 5770 Vapor-X and the PSU to an OCZ ModXstream PRO 700w

Apart from that, build looks pretty sweet.

Its a good case, been around for awhile though. Just bought a bunch of them when they were first released, cant seem to get rid of them all. Every new case I get I end up using them in new builds and putting my stuff back in the Apollo:P. With cases stick with NZXT/Antec/Cooler Master/Lian Li/ even some of the AZZA cases.

Cost more but good cases.
