Need advice for video laptop

Looking for what my kid needs in a laptop to run Photoshop Pro and video editing with Adobe Premier Pro cs5.5.
I only have $1500 to spend.

I would suggest a laptop with an Intel i7 processor and about 16GB of RAM.

Any reason for looking for a laptop? A desktop route would get you a very powerful CPU and a lot of fast RAM for under $1000 easy.

Problem is I'm getting conflicting info. I don't want gaming specs entirely and I need a dedicated graphics card compatible with nvidia for video editing. My kid takes a laptop to school so a desktop is a no go. I'm looking for something thats expandable so no replacement is needed for a few years.
My kid will also be using Maya soon.

Ok, then a laptop is the way to go. I was only suggesting a desktop because they are way more powerful and is able to upgrade if need be.

Now that he's using Maya, he'll need a good video card. Here's the laptop with the best video card. Its a professional grade workstation card which will help in Maya and any other 3D rendering program.

I would automatically upgrade to 8Gb of RAM:

There are other options, with less video card and a better CPU, but the video card will help tremendously with 3D rendering.
