Need Advice On A complex setup

okay, basically what i am trying to accomplish is adding a sixth pos by installing a monitor, keyboard, mouse and reciept printer all connected to a powered usb hub which would then convert to a single usb cable into an ethernet cable, fish it through a wall a ceiling and finally connecting to the computer tower as a single usb connection. Will I be able to accomplish this? if so is there a limit how long the cord can be? thanks

Maybe a silly question, why not just connect them with an ethernet cable instead of messing with USB to ethernet and what not?

I wasnt aware that was possible. Will the computer reconize the ethernet connection as a data connection and allow me to operate the mouse monitor and keyboard?

Oh, I'm sorry. I misread your intent. I thought you were trying to setup a small pc to run your pos system at the other end of the room and were trying to fiddle with long cords. You just want a dummy terminal.

According to spec, USB cables are limited to 3 meters for USB powered devices (i.e. your keyobard/mouse). You can extend this range with powered hubs.

For your monitor, it depends on how you are driving the video. I have seen VGA (those blue 15 pin connectors) up to 50 feet, you get some signal loss though. DVI (the white ones) are rated to 5m (16 feet) but again you can get longer cables. You can get signal boosters for either connection type but they don't chain like USB.
