Need advice on a computer

I am looking at buying a new gaming PC and I was looking at the Alienware AX51-0066BK Desktop on Amazon for $899.

It comes with Windows 7 home premium, mouse, and a keyboard that's keys light up all of which I would be buying regardless of what PC I get if they do not come with the system. The PC itself is also about the size of an Xbox I hear which is not required but is a plus.

I know even with the $100 off that I am going to be paying more than I would if I built my own but my question is how much more? Also will this computer run all current and upcoming games on max or near max settings?

I am also wondering if I would have any problems using my current monitor which is an Acer x193W 19".

Computer specs are listed on Amazon -

Building it will save you at least 100 bucks, probably more. And you'll have better quality components and it will be exactly what you need, and nothing that you don't.

I haven't the slightest clue on how to go about building my own or what parts to buy. Would someone be able to give me some sort of buying guide?

I would want it to be $900 or less including Windows 7 and a decent keyboard and mouse, also what type of setting would I be able to run games at with this price range?

Also I don't know if this would help in determining what parts to buy but I do not plan on running more games than one at a time or multiple programs at the same time. I just want a computer that will be able to play recently released and upcoming games on high settings is this possible with an $900 budget? That $900 has to include at least Windows 7 though.
