Need advice on rig?

Looking to purchase a gaming computer for my children. Want to know if this is a good enough system as I am not that computer savy.

Intel Core i7-930 Processor 2.8GHz with Turbo Boost Technology up to 3.06GHz, Windows 7 Home Premium, Intel X58 Express Chipset + ICH10R, 12GB DDR3 Memory, NVIDIA GeForce GTX470 Graphics Card with 1280MB Discrete Video Memory, 1.5TB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive, Multi-in-1 Digital Media Card Reader, High-Definition Audio Support with 7.1-channel Audio Support, THX+EAX, 11 - USB 2.0, Keyboard and Mouse, 57.0 lbs

Any comments or suggestions are welcome.

1.What is your budget?
2.How long do you plan on using your computer(I mean Futureproof)?
3.Are you building the computer yourself or getting it prebuilt?

It is a prebuilt. Sorry to disapoint. I am getting it from one of the vendors I do buisness with as barter. It is th new Acer Predator AG7750-U2222 Extreme Gaming Desktop. I just don't want to buy some junk.

1 this was the best computer they have,

2. I usually go new every 4 years, however this is my first gaming computer.
 
It is good, how much did it cost? I bet you could have built that for less than they're charging :L What sort of games do your kids play? All those Awesome specs are probably not necessary :)

Ok so
CPU - Awesome
Motherboard - Can Be Better
Memory - Overkill
GPU - Really Good but there are better options.(see if you can get an HD 5850)
 
Picked up the cpu for 1999.00 plus some software and 2 western digital 2 tera external hard drives. Also need advice on security software but I will post that in the proper forum.

When you say "CPU", I assume you mean the whole system, excluding HDD's.
Your CPU is the i7-930, it's about £200: about 300USD.

What games will your kids be playing? :)

For security, don't bother getting a paid-for Antivirus, download Avast, or just use MS security essentials :rolleyes:

I would have went with the GTX 480 but it is prebuilt.

What games do you recommend for a system such as this ?
I have done some homework but figured I would ask around on the forums.
 
You can play all the games with that PC,at any resolution,on any monitor

Well tbh it should run any modern game with little/no lag on high settings; it all depends on what games you'll let the kids have :)

Yes sorry I meant the whole system and yes you are correct that did not include the additional software and the externals.

You really think I should go with avast ...I have never used that but no matter what i do I always seem to have some virus/spyware slip past ...I have used norton and am currently using cyberdefender.. I like the cyberdefender because they guarantee their software and have techs clean up anything that might slip through.
