are IBM thinkpad r60s good laptops im going to be buying one on ebay for 185.00 i know it kinda old but my computer crashed so i have to find something cheap for now are these good computers and are the good at running programs will they last a long time.?

Intel Centrino Dual Core 1.83GHz CPU

1GB Memory

60GB* Hard Drive
 
i really want to find someone who has/had one before to tell me if they at least run decent im really only gonna use (itunes , avast anti virus,windows media player,online video, and online flash games

it looks like it has decent specs im not all about the speed as much i just want it to last a couple years and run stuff at decent speeds

they are good quality, but they are old. Thats the next generation from my old R51, and it would do everything that you are looking to do.
that processor is basically 2 1.86 GHz Pentium M's on 1 die. it will do a lot, but dont expect miracles.
It should have the ability to upgrade the RAM to at least 2Gb and maybe 4 Gb. this will aid your system performance.
 
thank you for your help im just trying to find a decent laptop for a good price and this i liked but i needed to know if it would handle programs well how long do they usally last any known hardware issues
 
well I had the R51 for 7 years, and it died of a GPU failure. The processor and ram are sill in use on a different motherboard.
 
well thats good then i was looking at it being good for at least 2-3 years just until i can get a better one i just need it to run programs a little well it dont have to be super fast its refurbished but it was lightly used so thats good i guess

it does only have one gig of ram but it should be good i would think for now as long as i dont have many programs running

I wouldn't trust what the seller says. Quite frankly, there are millions of laptops listed as Referb. on there but on average 5% of laptops are ever refurbished. that means that 100% of the first million laptops made of a line are refurbished and also selling on Ebay.
Im not saying that his isnt, but theres a issue that comes up where the #'s just dont line up.
 
i guess really havent got much of a choise my main desktop crashed and i have to find something cheap for now cause thats how i pay the bills and it would be nice to use it for other stuff to hopefully its refurbished like they say it is
 
thanks for those i might try to contact them in the morning and find out about them i have never bought from craigs list i dont know if they ship to you or is it pickup
 
yeah thats what i was thinking to ive heard things about craigslist ill talk to them first but if they dont sound good im gonna have to take my chances and go with the r60 and hope the hell their honest about it being refurbished i know some people have wrote good feedback for the seller and this laptop he sells
 
that does sound good but i wood not know how to fix it really i would pay you if i could to fix it for me i really only got 200.00 to spend
