Need advices on RAM

Hi, im new here and I have a question concerning RAM. My knowledge of the computer's world is very limited, so plz, use sentences that I will be able to understand Ok so here i go :

I actually have 768 mb of Ram (2 slots, 1rst=512 and 2nd=256) on my d845ebg2 motherboard. Ive read on intel's website that i can put 2 mb of ram in total. I'm using PC2700 DDR SDRAM and would like to change my actual setting to 2X1mb ram. Ive read that my motherboard is compatible with PC2100, PC2700, PC3200 and PC4000.

So i got some questions:

1. Are my informations correct?
2. What should i choose between 2100, 2700 and 3200?
3. Where can i find good Ram on the Internet for a decent price?

1. Yes, you are correct
2. Choose the higher number. This number represents how fast the memory can run (like the 'GHz' number for a processor). However, faster speeds more often than not cost more, and may not necessarily run at the advertised speed without 'overclocking' (changing settings in the BIOS to increase speed).
3. If you tell us what country you live in, and how much memory (1GB 2GB etc) you want, we can get you some decent memory without going overboard on price.

Cut and paste that post to a google search and you'll find about a 1000 places to buy it. Thats what most people do when they post, myself included.

These should do the trick. Obviously, you will have no need for the 2 sticks of memory you're currently using.

Browsing through some Canadian e-tailers, one of them had some memory priced at $700 for some bizarre reason.

well my motherboard does not accept Dual-Channel... so i guess all i can buy is normal PC2700 or PC3200 RAM... I got 2 DIMM slots... so to maximize performances i must buy 2x1gb... the only thing is .. should I take 2700 or 3200... because ive heard that 3200 may be useless considering the fact that it won't work at it's full capacity...

It will still accept the sticks. Dual channel is just a extra bonus. If the motherboard supports it, and if you have 2 sticks of matching RAM, you will get a performance boost via Dual Channel. If your motherboard doesn't support dual channel, the memory will still work, but you won't get that performance boost.

Just trying to find out your motherboard's default memory speed.

EDIT: Apparently, your motherboard supports both PC1600 and PC2100. So, there's little point in buying faster-rated memory.
