In about 2 weeks I will be recieving a lump some of cash and will be upgrading my computer. It is long over due and yes you can laugh at my specs...I do.
My computer is mainly my entertainment machine. All I do is watch movies, burn movies(takes me roughly 2-4 hours to go from .avi file to a burnt dvd),surf the forums that I am a member of and thats about it.I don't game, but wouldn't mind it tho.
I am wanting to stay with AMD but am open to new ideas.I run dual screens know and will continue to in the future. My budget is roughly 1000-1500$.If any other info is needed let me know and I will supply it.Thanks

For a grand total of $1342.45 before rebate and $1322.45 after and around ~$30 for shipping. This thing will keep you in business for a good 3-4 years with some room for upgrading later on. AMD's on this thing to where every time they come out with a new chipset, since AM2, they chip's are physically the same, just require a BIOS update on the mobo. The only thing I could think you might would want to swap out is the mobo. AMD is suppose to be releasing a new chipset for mobo's this quarter, so you could wait for the release and grab one of them. I think it's suppose to be the 890 chipset but will do some research and get back on that one. If I had the money, this setup would be sitting in front of me right now.

EDIT: Found what I was looking for about the new mobo chipset.

RD890/SB800. The 890 is suppost to give you better overclocking with the 45nm. AM3 processors then the 700 series did.

And the SB800 moves the PCIe support from the northbridge to the southbridge. More USB ports support. Makes the jump to Sata 6Gb/s. All new Southbridge.

They were suppost to be released when the AM3 came out, but the processors got out the door first, the drop to 45nm. went better and faster then AMD thought so the chipset is taking alittle longer.

With the build I just gave you, I couldn't see it taking more than 10-15 minutes to burn a DVD and that will massively depend on your DVD-R drive.

The component list Bob692006 compiled is good. My only concern is the Phenom II 955 processor is so new that he may need a BIOS flash to get it to work with the chosen motherboard. I think you should get the Phenom II 910 or Phenom II 810 processor. Sadly it seems all Phenom 910 processors are out of stock everywhere presently.

The Phenom II 810 Quad-Core processor is in stock right now for $170:

Edit: Found a Phenom II 910 for $218:

Or, Lower the cpu and mobo, and memory down to these and keep the rest of the parts above:

Mobo, Foxconn Destroyer 780a ($189.99)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813186152

CPU,Phenom II X4 940: ($189.99 Free Shipping)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103471

Memory, since this mobo dont support ddr3 or tri channel(well, no amd boards are tri channel at the moment), this ddr2 1066Mhz would suit well: ($61.99)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231246

And then 2x of these monitors: ($109.99 each $218.98 total)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236032

And the total for this would be-----------------$1,493.40
And the total after rebates/coupon codes---$1,437.40

Either of these options would also allow you the option to later down the road purchase another GTX275 and SLI them;) Also, @ Bob692006 the amd motherboards dont support tri channel memory.
