this is the thread that i made a few days ago. its crazy how it got jacked by bickering and difference in opinion, and truly lost focus in what the OP, (me), had been asking. so i will try again. thi 1st part of it got answered, thank you for the replies in regaurd to that. the other part is this...

im glad that i finaly chose a good psu. the ultra (the one in my sig) will that be good to use in my other build. i wont be playing games on it but maybe once in a blue moon if at all since i have a pc designated for that, but will be primarily used for video copying/converting, picture editing (mildly), and movie watching, and will more than likly be on 24/7 since i will be using my home phone through it

im about to transfer the psu over before the weekend is up, but would like to know if it will be safe to do so since it will be on 24/7. so any help would bre great, and if i need to get yet another psu, then let me know. hopefully not. and please my fellow members, no bickering on this one, lets keep it informative, not standoffish

Yes, the Corsair TX650 is a good power supply. It's based on the SeaSonic SS-650HT platform, which is the same used for both the HX620 and HX650.

The only slight fault I have with it is the slightly large amount of ripple on the 12V rail, which can get to around 90mV. This is still within ATX Spec (which allows for up to 120mV on the 12V rail), so is not going to do any harm to your hardware, but it's still quite high for an enthusiast level power supply.

If you can stretch for the extra money, I'd definitely say that this is worth it, both in terms of performance and future proofing.

You'll also save money - and fan noise - slightly with this power supply, due to its higher efficiency, meaning that less power is wasted, and turned into heat.

Here we go again...

It will be fine, if its a cheapie home computer, its fine. But Personally, i would put a quality PSU in any system...

apologies to all and anyone offended previously.

glad to see you have made some decisions mate, good luck.

:)

thanks for the responses. it sounds like im good to go with both computers. i honostly think that i have a good set up with the routes that i have chosen. both seem stable, and will do stress testing on both for a day straight. i ran 3dmark 06 on both computers, ...with the one running the amd athlon II x2 235a 2.7Ghz, 3 gigs ddr2 800Mhz, 8800gt 512mb, 750Gig hd, 1 Tb hd, 500Gig hd, dvd burner, i scored just over 10,000....andwith the rig in my sig i scored just over 16000....do these scores seem about right with my setups?...anyways, thanks for the help...god bless
