need codec from secure sight?

need codec from secure site?

I am trying to view wmv videos on the media player for windows 7 home but it will not show the vid. I keep getting this error code.
missing Windows Media Player C00D1199

I have searched windows and microsoft but do not offer anything of codecs. Is there a secure sight that might be recommended for getting codecs?

Any ideas on this? I have been working on this for 2 days. Windows media player gives the error code. I down loaded software from Divx, it says the same, unsupported file or does not exist. I downloaded update driver for my video card ,it had a video conveter attached that also gave me the unsupported or does not exist error. I can view the videos on the wireless laptop but not on the desk top. The vids are for school so it will be annoying to watch on laptop and work on desk top.

Windows 7 64 OS
videos are wmv files, the system can play wmv files, I played demos of the same file type.

Laptop is window xp

It could be an issue with the Advanced Profile WMV codec but I would have thought your PCs would be up-to-date enough to have that. Although I mostly use other players I use WMP as the default for wmv and it works fine.

Try downloading Mediainfo or GSpot and open the video using them to see if they will determine the format.

will the links work with windows 7 64bit?
the school is also using windows 7 64 bit, so I would figure the problems at my desktop
