Need computer technical help!!!!

hi my computer is doing some funky stuff and i need help when i boot it up it just shuts off 10 secs into boot up and then 2 seconds later it trys again and dose the same thing over and over do i need to reset my cmos or what iam confused oh it should also be noted that part of my motherboard poped the other day and a wire is now exposed on the acctually mother board. could this be the problem or is it just a faulty power supply?
 
well it came out of the top as where it would be in the motherboard it just came out. it looks like it goes up to the cpu fan witch dose not work. and it the whole thing still gets power but just shuts off. i can try to get some pics. oh and the cpu is a model under what the cpu the motherboard is supposed to support it supports a yorksfield 3300 series but i have a kentsfield 3200 series its and intel xeon quad core lga 775 socket could this be the problem?

If the fan doesn't work, it could be the temps skyrocketing and then the CPU automatically shutting the computer down to save itself from burning up. Have you tried touching the heatsink immediately after the computer shuts down? If it's boiling hot, the cooling (or lack thereof) is the problem. If it isn't that hot at all, it's probably something else.

At what stage does the computer shut down? Does it do it while POSTing or when windows (or whatever OS you have) starts loading up?
 
no acctually iam building the computer and this is the wall so to speak it has not os on it and iam trying to boot it up for the first time so i can set bios
 
If the fan isnt going, the computer will turn off n on due to heat. Very bad to run a computer with fan or some sort of cooling.

Fix that asap I reckonmend.
 
no its not that its overheating infact far from it. it shuts off 2 sec after i boot it up like press the power button it will shut off and the system is completely cool there isnt even an os on it yet
 
i think maybe i just need a new motherboard because every thing else works fine all the other parts but i just wanted to see if anyone had similar problems or fixs. can find a camera
