So theres a 4850 selling on trade me and its closing in 3 hours...

So my mate has a 450 no name PSU..... Will this be ok with a Phenom II 550 maybe unlocked etc etc?

Cheers

What pins if any does it need?

If it's a decent power supply - you could squeak by - but you're gonna have to use your own judgement on it being that it's a no-name.

I checked Corsair Power Supply Calculator - and they recommend as low as 400 W for Phenom II with 4850 - if you're not overclocking anything. But their PSU's are an efficient good quality PSU.

Corsair PSU Calculator

Newegg lists 450W as a minimum Power Supply for 4850 under System Requirements

Not sure what you mean there - But you'll need a PCIe Power source - OR - you can use 2 molex cables and an adaptor to power the card. It'll fit in a pciex16 slot.

My 400w corsair powers my whole rig with out any problem. I don't know about a no name 450w though. Seems a little iffy to me how many amps does it have on the rails? My corsair has 30amps on 1 12v rail which is plenty to power the rig in my sig. I would probably go for it it should get by just barely. Although if it's going to be a gaming machine I would get a new PSU as soon as possible.

Also to answer you're question it use 1 6pin PCIe connector to power.
