A restore feature is not the same as an Anytime Upgrade disk. The restore feature uses the manufacturer provided software to restore the machine back to factory state. An Anytime Upgrade disk is used to upgrade the version that came on your computer to a higher version... ie upgrade Vista Home Basic to Premium or Ultimate.
What some of our less knowledgable contributors haven't clued into is that the OP is posting about something completely different than what our honourable responder is rambling on about.
A Home Basic Key will not work in any other version of Vista, nor will a Premium, Ultimate or any other key. In order to install the version (thus upgrade your current version) you need to purchase a valid key for that version.
