Hey all
I'm setting up a new 250gb maxtor hard drive on my pc. anyways when I'm in the setup it says I've only got space for 131gb. I've heard before that the larger the hard drive the less space you get and I also know that there is a way to bring it back to the original size. does anyone know how to do that? please let me know. TXs

I noticed that when I set up my Maxtors last week. I'm missing 11 gigs on each of my 300gb drives. Hope someone can chime in on how to get that back.

Where in Japan are you facist? I'm in Yokosuka myself.

@ Facist, What O/S are you running? Any service packs?

@ bigjp, Its supposed to be like that, its not so much missing, as not there in the first place.

i believe it comes down to how the manufacturer's define a megabyte... they say a megabyte is 1000 bytes while software companies such as microsoft say its 1024 bytes.
you also lose some space because of your file allocation table
