Hi guys,

I want to have a computer solely for playing games and surfing the net. Of course, with the basic office functions and such.
My budget is$5,500 (I want a new keybard and mouse though, already got a good monitor) and I play quite bit of games whenever I can and I would reallly love to ran some of the newer games on the market fully. Yeah I been saving up for a few months now from my jobs as a waitor and bag boy. :D

But the thing is, I have no clue as to how tomake all the parts compatitble. i decide pre-made PC totally suck ass after my horrible encounters with HP and VAIO. So I am going to build my own this time and if possible, I would like to have a good cooling system since I hate the fan noise.

Thanks a bunch

Ben

Go to a place like www.ibuypower.com and they will build it for you. With your budget too your computer will be TOP of the line. Wait though for July 24. That is when intel conroe comes out and it is the cpu everyone is anticipating.

May I ask why?
It will flat out kick its butt, and for a lower price too :D, and don't but it form ibuyer or whatever that is, don't spend the extra money, build it yourself, and learn from it. And for the mobo that will mean a different one, as for video cards there have been rumors that on teh new conroe boards intel won't be supporting sli, so a crossfire setup with x1900xtx's may be better.

If you have 5500 to spend, definately invest in a MB that supports SLI mode or Crossfire. If you don't know what those are I'll explain. Basically SLI is for nVidia, and Crossfire is for ATI. This allows you to run dual video cards, so each video card works on half the monitor so to speak. This allows very clean graphics because the video card is putting all its power into half the amount of work that needs to get done. All it really depends on is if you like nVidia or ATI better, or if you already have a video card that can be used in either SLI or Crossfire, then I'd say just stick with that (since vid cards can be expensive) and just inveset in a 2nd video card (the same one) and a MB that supports both.

I just wanted to see the guy who suggested it's reasoning.
