Hello im sitting at Dell.com or Dell.no since its norwegian :p building a system (Studio XPS 8100) im buying in a month.

I want it to be good for gaming and i have a few questions regarding processors, memory and screen cards so this is the current setup:

Processor: Intel Core i5-processor 670 (3,46 GHz, 4 MB)
Memory: 8192 MB (4 x 2 GB) 1333 MHz DDR-memory.
Screen card: 1 GB ATI Radeon HD 5770.

And my question is what is the best/optimal for gaming:

Intel Core i5 670 (3,46 GHz, 4MB) - or - Intel Core i7 870 (2,93 GHz, 8MB).

8192 MB (4 x 2 GB) 1333 MHz - or - 8192 MB (2 x 4 GB) 1333 MHz.

1 GB ATI Radeon HD 5770 - or - 1 GB Nvidia GeForce GTS 240

Yes, im building it online so thats the options i have.

Hope you can help and that you all agree with each other so its not hard to choose :p

ok the i7 is MUCH better than the i5 even though it has a lower clock. It is a better oc'er and 8mb of L2/L3 cache beats 4mb any day. the fact that it has more memory is all the justification you need for that. I would get 6 gigs instead of 8 so you can run in triple channel which beats 8 gigs which would have to run in dual channel. the 5770 is a MUCH better graphics card so definitely get that

That is not even a fair comparison. An i5-750 at 8mb catch is a good buy and a better bang for buck than those two IMHO.

The 5770 hands down over the 240.

Just start with 2x2g 1333.

If it is gaming use the money saved for a 5850, that will make a big diff.

i5-750, 4 g total, 5850 = good game comp.

For gaming, go for the i5 750. The i7 will be bottlenecked by the video card, for the most part, and the i5 6XX models are only dual cores.
