Need help building computer

Hi,
I have about 850.00$ i can spend on building a computer but i have no clue where to start and what to buy. I deffinatley want a good video card for gaming, and deffinatley want 2gb of ram. I also want atleast 3.0ghz processor speed, and a 150gb harddrive. But what about the mother board?
Here is my computer now:

Dell stock case =[
2.4 ghz intel proccesor
1gb ram
80 gb harddrive
stock dell mother board (from about 2001-2002) ={
128mb nvidea gforce 6600GT

Please help me out, thanks
 
Hmm. I'd go with an Athlon 64 X2, 7600GT, 2GB of RAM like you wanted, 160GB HDD, as for the mobo, go with a stable brand like Asus, MSI, Abit, DFI, etc.

Thanks guys very much, I think i may go with what monkeysims suggested, but I like Nvidea brand video cards, or are ATI's better? What do u think?
 
I think i may go with the Nvidea 7600gt, but on Newegg there are a bunch. Which one do u think i should go with?

There are a couple mistakes in that so if you copied and pasted that from whereever it came I wouldn't suggest getting it. Cpu stinks too. Is there a link on that?

No there isnt a link, i'm not too sure if you are familiar with the site Craigslist.com, but i posted a Wanted add for a Gaming Pc just to see what would come up locally, and that is what the guy emailed to me.

*I may be wrong here but I do not think there is a socket A 3200.

*Gigg's? Spelling ERROR! Also, timeings have 4 numbers.

-There might be more errors but you get the point I hope.
 
Check this hubba jubba out. Is anything this guy is saying true? In another email he sent me he claimed he was a "professional pc builder" and can build me a computer to "sute" my needs....notice that SUIT is spelled wrong......

Here is what he emailed me 30 sec ago:

I have a MB for the intel ABIT AL8-V …But to tell u the truth AMD 64 is the way to go for insane power…And I recommend the Corsair Vers the OCZ I never had any luck with their stuff…Mushkin and corsair is the way to go u can give me a call I can help u out with a list or hardware to get for the Gamming pc u want…762 0846 my name is jay…
