Hey my name is Blake I need some help building my new labtop . My main question is about the hard drive what is the difference between Raid 0 Performance and single drive? I really want to build gaming labtop so what would be better 320GB - 2x 160GB 7,200RPM - RAID 0 or 320GB or maybe 500 gb 7,200RPM w/ Free Fall Protection?

Ok here rest spec's on the labtop going to be buying. Will this labtop be able to handle games like battlefield 2 with no problem or lagging ?

Alienware m17x
PROCESSOR - Intel® Core™2 Quad Q9100 2.26GHz (12MB Cache, 1066MHz FSB)
OPERATING SYSTEM - Windows Vista Home Premium (64 bit) + Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade Coupon
VIDEO CARD - Dual NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 260M, 2GB – SLI® Enabled
LCD PANEL -17-inch WideXGA+ 1440x900 (900p)
MEMORY - 4GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1333MHz edit
HARD DRIVE - 320GB 7,200RPM w/ Free Fall Protection

thanks,

Basically raid 0 creates stripe sets , using 2 or more hard drives. I think it is supposed to be faster than a single disk. Since the stripe set spans both hard drives if one HD fails you lose your data. There may be software to recover like "raid reconstructor"
