Hi,
I am shopping for a laptop since I am starting university in a bit. What I am looking to do with my laptop is surf the web, do homeworks (using Microsoft Office for example), use Photoshop CS5 a little bit, and I will do a little bit of gaming on my spare time (games I play are Killing Floor, Trackmania, GunZ, Garry's Mod, Counter-Strike 1.6 & Source, a bit of Left 4 Dead 1 & 2 and Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2). Gaming absolutely won't be the primary use of my laptop since I have a gaming Desktop pc but I would like it to be game capable when I need it to be. Also, since I will be carrying it around a lot, I would like a small and light laptop (13.3" would be ideal) with at least 4-5 hours of battery life on wifi. I would also like something under $900. I found a couple of interesting laptops so far but I am very undecided. I would like to hear what you guys think is the best choice and please feel free to suggest other laptops that would suit my needs.
Here are the laptops I found so far:
- Acer Aspire TimelineX AS3830TG-6494 - $699.99

Note: I am aware that this is probably the best bang for the buck, however, I've heard that cpu throttling is a serious issue while under load. Also, the battery isn't removable so battery life might decrease after a year or so if the laptop is constantly plugged into the wall.
- Asus U36SD-CST1-CBIL - $849.99

Note: It is an expensive laptop but it is amazingly thin and light.
- Dell Vostro 3350
option #1 - $729.99 : http://www.dell.com/ca/business/p/vostro-3350/pd?oc=nb_v3350_b2_e&model_id=vostro-3350
option #2 - $899.99 : http://www.dell.com/ca/business/p/vostro-3350/pd?oc=nb_v3350_e1_e&model_id=vostro-3350
Note: This laptop might be a little heavy and thick especially with the 8-cell battery sticking out at the bottom but it is nicely priced with the current rebates.
Let me know what you guys think!
Thanks
