Ok. I have just decided to save up as long as it takes to get something good. I have narrowed it down to 2 computers. Please don't suggest other computers lol, I would just like to know what the performance differences between these will be and if the performance gain will be worth the cost difference. Also, what will have better build quality?

Dell XPS M1710
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7200 (2.00GHz, 4MB L2 Cache, 667 MHz FSB)
Vista Premium
2GB DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHZ, 2 DIMM
80GB 7200rpm SATA Hard Drive
24X CD Burner/DVD Combo Drive
256MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ Go 7900 GS
Integrated Sound Blaster® Audigy™HD Software Edition
$2524

or

Alienware Area-51 m5550
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T7200 2.0GHz 4MB Cache 667MHz FSB
Vista Premium
15.4" WideUXGA 1920 x 1200 LCD - Saucer Silver
2GB Dual Channel DDR2 SO-DIMM at 667MHz - 2 x 1024MB
80GB Serial ATA 1.5Gb/s 5,400 RPM w/ NCQ & 8MB Cache
24x DVD-ROM/CD-RW Burner w/ Nero Software
256MB NVidia® GeForce™ Go 7600

Ok I know that you said no other reccomendations but you can get a fully LOADED inspiron e1705 for less than the 1710:(same proc. ram cpu gpu bigger hd better cd/dvd drive same sound drivers same vista distro....):
PROCESSOR Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7200 (2.00GHz, 4MB L2 Cache, 667 MHz FSB) edit
OPERATING SYSTEM FREE Upgrade to Genuine Windows Vista™ Home Premium with 1GB of memory edit
LCD PANEL 17 inch Wide Screen XGA+ TFT Display with TrueLife™(glossy) edit
MEMORY 2GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz edit
HARD DRIVE 250GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive edit
OPTICAL DRIVE 8x CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW) with double-layer DVD+R write capability edit
VIDEO CARD 256MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ Go 7900 GS edit
SOUND OPTIONS Integrated Sound Blaster® Audigy™HD Software Edition

BATTERY OPTIONS 80 WHr 9-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery edit
WIRELESS CARDS Intel PRO/Wireless 3945a/g edit

1961$ and you could add in a 4 year at home warrenty for less than the 1710 still. Also the alienware has a pretty lacking graphics card.

Ok I have another question lol.

I was looking at high-end notebooks. Most I see have either Intel or AMD dual-core processors. Well, I was looking at the Alienware Aurora m9700 and it only comes with a single-core processor. It's a AMD Turion™ 64 Mobile ML34 and then you can pick faster ones. Is this just a ripoff or is this like a really good single-core processor? Basically I'm wondering why such an expensive gaming PC doesn't come with a dual-core processor.

Thanks.
