need help, choosing ram

I decided I would like to breathe new life into my older computer before upgrading to new hardware. The reason for this is I want to learn to OC and better set up my rig before doing so on newer more expensive equipment.
my current setup is:
asus p6t deluxe v2 mobo;

http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_1366/P6T_Deluxe_V2/ core

i7 930 cpu, I am watching ebay for a core i7 980x hex a core

I need to learn how overclocking the cpu affects the ram, this will help me choose which ram kits are best for me. Can someone take the time to teach me the basics, or post a link to where I can study up on this. Thanks in advance. -Chris.

ok, so I found and am currently reading an instructional thread on OC'ing and its affects on ram. can someone confirm this statement so I know I am on the right track: since my core i7 930 is not an extreme edition processor, I overclock by increasing the FSB (this much I already knew). The FSB being the speed at which the RAM communicates with the CPU. So if I choose DDR3 1333 RAM, the highest I can set my FSB is around 444mhz before the RAM may become unstable, and if I choose DDR3 1600, then 533mhz FSB is pretty much the limit. Is this right?

I forget the stats on my current ram. I remember its 2gb x 3 sticks, but thats no matter Im looking for new stuff. I'm at work or I'd look.

Corsair Low Profile

ive heard some good stuff bout these but dont really know if the would overclock well, i currently use kingston hyper x and its pretty fast
