Need help conecting a computer to wireless connection

Hello, and thanks for reading this post. Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I'm not very good with computers.

My friend came over today and he brought his laptop. Well my Inspiron 6000 will conect to the network just fine, but his latop (a Inspiron B130) is having troubles. When he starts up the computer it starts aquiring the network adress, but then it has limited or no connectivity. When we try to repair the network, but it says that it cannot renew the IP address. We've tried going start->run, cmd, then typing /ipconfig renew, but nothing happens. We also have a windows 98 desktop connected to the network, which is working.

Any help would be greatly apreciated!

try restarting your wireless router.

Make sure he doesnt have an address specified. Right click my netowkr places, properties. Right click lan or high speed connection and select properties. Tcp/ip select properties and make sure it is obtained not specified.

The TCP/IP is auto-obatained.

And now I feel like a idiot... How do you re-start your wireless router?

Unplug it is easy enough. But you can also do it form logging in to the web based GUI.

Unplugging the router didn't help. And I tried dis-connecting and re-connecting with my computer, and it connects, but I have "limited or no connectivity". Also, enter any WEP key works when trying to connect, including the right WEP key. Any ideas? Also, if you connect with the wrong WEP key will you just have limited or no connectivity? Is possible someone changed our WEP key?
