Need help connecting audio from my laptop to my TV

Hi guys, i need help connecting the audio from my laptop to play through my tv. I have a vga to vga cable plugged in from my laptop to the tv and the video is coming through fine. I have a 3.5 to 3.5 cable plugged in from my headphone socket on my laptop to the correct audio port on the back of the tele, right above the vga port but there is no sound coming through it? Any ideas??

Might and should be an option on the tv to switch audio outputs with a menu.
Suspect that is the problem. Or and get out the manual for tv.

Are you sure it is audio input?
Could be audio out put.
