Need help connecting high speed internet to Windows 2000

I just reformatted a computer I got from my friend with windows 2000 professional but it wont connect to the internet. The internet set up only provides help for a dial up connection, so I'm wondering if it doesn't support a high speed connection. Any help would be awesome.

If it's a DSL modem connected via ethernet cable, you should choose the "Connect thru LAN" or similar option in this internet setup wizard or whatever it was called. Unless you got a CD from your ISP...if you did, use it.
