Need help connecting my new laptop to my router

I've managed to connect my laptop to my router, but I only have 'Limited Connectivity'. It says this:

IPv4 Connectivity: Limited
IPv4 Connectivity: Limited

I know that this is VERY vague, but I really have no idea about networking/internet connectivity. Does anyone have ideas that would put me in the right direction to fixing this? Thanks for any help :D .
 
Have you ever configured the TCP/IP settings of your laptop before? If you haven't heard or have no idea what it is, chances are you didn't. Additionally, I assume you are trying to connect it wirelessly? If wired, you shouldn't be having that much problem.
 
check your tcp/ip settings are correct.

go to a computer that is working on the system, click start then run, then cmd, then do ipconfig /all

then open you network settings on you laptop select properties for tcp/ip config then manually enter an ip address in you range ie if other pc says 10.0.0.1 enter 10.0.0.9 in your laptop, enter the subnet mask which shoudl be 255.255.255.0 and then type in your dns server which can be found off your pc.
