Hello,
I have had Windows 2000 for sometime. I recently installed XP having been told it would wipe out 2000. It didn't. Now I'm running two systems. How do I get 2000 off my computer?
Thanks.

you would have to format the hard drive. That would wipe the whole thing. But you would have to install windows xp again, obviously. :)

try going start, right licking on my computer, go to manage, click on disk management, and see if there are 2 different partitions (might have made its own partition when xp installed and see if you can format the 2000 partition

Thank you. Since I'm new at this sort of thing, is there a chance I'm going to ruin the computer?

So far...
Checked out the second option and it appears there is only one partition.
"Status - Healthy", Free space 61.55.
I do not know how to format a hard drive.
The issue for me is that games freeze. Installation fine but games won't play. Have an Nvidia GeForce 6200, have recent driver, etc.
I thought XP would solve my problems. Not so. Games still freeze. (Not trying to play games that require more than my system has.) I assume having two systems is not a good thing! Will appreciate advice. Thanks!

having two (or more) operating systems is no big deal at all. they don't interfere with each other at all (no matter what operating systems you have). the computer only boots up one at a time. the multiple os's don't even know how to use the same installed drivers or programs.

as for removing win2k, a simple way of doing it is to just goto My Computer and delete the folder win2k is in. not the best way, but it wont have any negative effects on the pc running, there will be some win2k system files left floating around (mainly in the root dir), but there quite small. a hard drive reformat would be better, but you'd loose everything on the hard drive and have to take the time reinstalling everything.

if games are still freezing despite the winxp instillation then chances are it wasn't an OS incompatibility.
keep in mind that for the winxp instillation, you will need to reupgrade all the drivers. and reinstall directx etc.
