need help installing a prtr

Hello all,
I recently uninstalled a printer and tried to install a new one. Unfortunately, the PC doesn't recognize the new printer. I called tech support on the printer, and the guy there said it's most likely an OS issue because i don't have"Imaging Devices" or "USB Printing Support" showing up on my My computer/Properties/Devices tab.
I think i may have screwed up the uninstall, because there were a few boxes that came up and asked about deleting a few sys32 files, and it told me it might affect other programs operation. I didn't know what that meant, but i figured it was something from the old printer, so i deleted them. I am now beginning to think it may have been something that was needed to install a new printer as well.
Does anyone have any idea how to check these files out, to see which ones are missing, and then how to get them back? Any ideas and/or help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.
Steve

if you have he origional driver cd, try uninstalling the printer, running the install, and THEN plugging in the printer. windows' drivers might be wwrong.

The printer is an Epson stylus photo RX500 all in one. I ran the factory driver disk when i installed it. That told me not to plug in the printer until the very end of the install. The printer never showed up as installed. The software to run it did install though. i really think it has something to do with the sys 32 files i deleted when i uninstalled my old lexmark z605.
Thanks,
Steve
