Need Help Installing Video Card!

Alright, the video card I ordered just came today. I inserted it into the AGP slot and connected the small white plug to the end of it (it had the letters GP on it). I then took out my monitor cable and plugged it into the video card. When I turned on my computer, an error came up saying:

"You have not connected the power cable to your video card."

There's some more after that with something like refering to the installation guide. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks to anyone with a quick reply.

Its the X700, if it matters.

Have you tried removing the g-card from the mobo and puttin it back in again?
& Have you tried a different rail for power from your PSU?

Sorry to double post but things are a bit different now. When my computer loads everything works fine but as soon as the Windows XP loading screen goes off and my desktop would appear, my monitor would just shut off and have a 'Cannot detect signal'.

My PSU can be found here:

I hope thats not the problem because ceewi1 said the X700 would work.

Your PSU might be putting out even lower Amps than the 19A that Ceewi thought. It really sounds like it isn't getting enough power. Either of these supplys would be great:
XCLIO 450BL
Hipro Top-500P5

Check with Ceewi first, though. He's the PSU Guru around here, and he'll be able to tell you for sure if it is the PSU :).

Alright, thanks for the suggestion Jet. I'll PM him later and ask.

My brother says the PSU can handle it but he doesn't know what the problem is exactly. Like I said, the monitor would lose the signal right before showing the desktop (before that, it worked fine).

I used the search function and a suggestion was that my onboard video still had drivers installed. I'm in VGA mode(?, brother did it for me) and I don't know where to access the drivers. I'm not even sure if my onboard is disabled. When I go to Setup when turning the computer on, there isn't any clear options to go to except for Advanced BIOS which doesn't seem to state anything about Onboard video. :(

It's possible, but somehow I doubt it. FSP tend to follow the ATX recommendations quite strictly on their lower end units, and there's detailed info available on the ATX recommendations for a 300W PSU.

An X700 draws a touch over 30W at peak load, about 2A of that from the +12V rail. At idle, it's more like 15W/<1A. If adding that load to your system has caused your PSU to fail to power it, you must really have been pushing it before. What are your other specs?

Of course, it may simply be a bad power supply rather than an insufficient one.

It could just as easily be a problem with the video card as well.
