Need Help, issue with new computer

Ive been playing World of Warcraft without a problem with my grampa's computer. He has a Hp a1140n Pavilion(R)4 with 3.00 GHz and .99 GHz of RAM.
I just recently picked up a Hp Pavilion 1700n with the AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+ 2.00GHz with 1GB of RAM. It's with the new Vista.

But my issue is when im playing WoW on this computer my video tends to be laggy, so i lowerd the video settings and that help'd out a little, but im not sure if its the video card thats making my video in the game laggy or what. I've got the NVIDIA GeForce 6150 LE that came with this computer. Let me know what you think could be the issue with video lag in the game WoW.

How much memory is installed on the HP model there? Besides the older model video card installed a good deal of the newer games out like to jump on the memory to a degree. The card itself probably lacks the shader support as well as a few other things.

I had this problem before.
I downloaded the latest graphic card from internet and installed it, and it was helpful.
 
Well im new to this but, my C: drive says i have 205GB free of 226GB, and my D: drive says 898MB free of 6.25GB
 
It sounds like your primary drive is a 250gb model with an 8gb setup as a secondary master if not slaved to the host. The 226gb seen shows that there is some unallocated drive space or a second partition on the C drive there. Being that Vista is the latest on the scene the lack of available drivers for sound rather then video has been seen!

To get EAX on a Creative sound card here the Media Center was installed as an option. The Sound Blaster option for EAX selected now provides audio effects on an Audigy model card while Creative still only carries beta for basic sound only.
 
So, what should I do, sorry if i sound like im like gimme answers i want to learn this stuff so I can fix it. Does it sound like the video card?
 
Let's take it one step at a time to see where you end up. You have 1gb of memory and an AMD 3800+ X2 in an HP. The cpu is a good work horse 2ghz model dual core cpu but not a gamer's choice to start with. A good 1gb or more of memory is on the plus side there. But the video card does lack while not being the primary cause.

Firewalls, antivirus, or any other programs running in the background other then the Windows default services can often effect games. There's nothing new to report there. Sometimes temporary disabling a number of items from loading along with Windows will free up the needed memory and cpu time. The NVidia drivers are mainly for video and not sound. Going with the latest updated drivers for both video and sound could help. Your initial statement of .99ghz of ram sounds contradictory in some sense since you later mention 1gb of ram installed which is likely to DDR400?
 
Well, i lowered the game resolution to 800x600 it fixed it but the graphix arent as good, so maybe it is the card. prolly going to replace it anyhow for future gaming
 
That' an older model with less support for several of the newer games out. For gaming you will at least want to get into a 7000 series model or an ATI Radeon card to see better results. It's typical to find lower end cards in prebuilt systems. When you build your own you do so according to your budget in seeking the best performance that way. I run quite a few games at 1280x1024 with high details set on the MSI Radeon X1300 Pro here without stalls and other problems while not ocing. And this is a lower end ATI model.
 
All fixed the 7300 works amazing im on highest resolution and video settings and the game looks amazing now! thanks guys
 
Make sure you downloaded the Dual-Core Optimizer from AMD, i had this problem with RTS games, and it was due to the processor. And also try to set the program so it only runs on one of the processors, just to see if that makes a difference, by doing this.. Start WoW, then tab out of the game and hit Alt+Ctrl+Del. Then click on the processes tab and find the WoW, or whatever the programs operating name is, and right click on it. Then click on "Set Affinity" and check one box off, so the game only runs off one processor. Here is the link for the optimizer http://www.amd.com/us-en/assets/content_type/utilities/Setup.exe
 
If anything you would look for an AMD or MS patch if seeing any problems directly related to a dual core cpu. In fact one Microsoft article outlined a special fix for the system registry if there any performance problems seen. This came shortly after the early AMD X2s and Opterons were first seen. The MS article on that was originally intended for boards with multiple cpus but also applied to single cpu boards when running a dual core model on them. Since then the initial problems have been overcome with SP2 and new boards as well as newer designs for boards.
