Need help on deciding

Hi there, I'm new here. Alright so, I've been interested in buying a new computer for myself for gaming purposes. The one I have now is completely horrible. I'm in desperate need of a new gaming computer; however, I've never built one on my own or bought one on my own either, so as you can tell I'm not sure what is good for a gaming computer and whats not. What I want to buy is something that will run games at the highest possible graphics and settings, and have no lag or fps problems at all. I'm willing to spend anywhere from $500-$1000 for a gaming desktop. I've looked on sites such as iBUYPOWER.com, Alienware.com, places like that, but not sure if they're the places to be looking at. As you can tell already I don't really know anything about computers, so building one of my own is not a option haha. Help is greatly appreciated.

Ok First we need to know which all parts do you want like OS,monitor,keyboard etc.
Then let me tell you the drawbacks of these pre-built systems.
1.Expensive
2.Expensive
3.Not many Options
4.Bad Quality PSU.
5.Really Crappy Brands of RAM used and the upgrade is really expensive
6.Not get th case of your choice

I'm either looking for the full package, such as the monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers and the computer tower or just the tower itself. As for the OS, I'm not quite sure whats best, but I'd say Windows 7. I understand the drawbacks for a pre-built system, but like I said before I have no experience what so ever with building / buying computers, so I thought a pre-built would be the way to go for me.
 
Mihir has given you a good suggestion on a pre-built desktop computer. The components are decent quality and the price isn't too bad.

That's a very nice computer from the looks of it, and I've added all of what you said besides the monitor, because I don't have enough for that yet lol. Altogether it came to $981 with shipping being $95 and I had to upgrade the Power Watt supply too a 600 watt for the GPU. Just to make sure, is the price good, for what I'm going to buy?

But they are only offering Generic PSUs in lower Wattage

@OP I can build you a computer from newegg in the same budget with better quality parts and we also have a guide here about how to assemble your own PC.
I know its scary at first since you made a lot of investment on the PC and dont want to screw up the build but its really easy and once you build it you would be really proud of yourself and also would know more about computers and will be able to fix your own problems without calling a computer guy(minor hardware problems atleast0

After buying a pre-built PC and it dies / is way out of date and I'm in need of a new one, that's when I'd probably build my own, but as for now I just want to buy a pre-built gaming PC. If you could build me one from newegg in the same budget with better quality parts that would be awesome.

it wont be a prebuilt you would have to build it yourself i can just tell you the parts
 
you're not going to be playing games at best possible graphics for $500 - $1000, sorry, but its just not in the cards...

what you could look at is upgrading what you have now, post your current rig (as horrible as you said it might be)

you're not getting anything as far as i know from alienware, or any other big company gaming for that pricepoint.

the other option is the best price from a custom builder you can find. For that pricepoint check my website as an idea (www.rawcomputers.ca) for $550 you get a very entry level machine. Gaming systems start at a bit over your price point, but tAhere's some amd setups that will do gaming (be it not at full res for most games) for your target price range. What I can tell you is that my prices are targeted lower than the big computer makers and the big box stores.
