Need help on some CD issues

Hello,

Need any help with the following:

1) I formatted my CD (BENQ CD-RW) using InCD UDF packet writing software. I have saved some files on this CD.

I now want to use this CD on another PC which does not have the above software installed. I want to see the contents of the CD in this other PC but there's nothing shown on the PC when I use Explorer to view it.

Do I require the software to be installed on this PC in order to view it?

I have another issue to ask.

2) When I copied a CD-R using Nero Burning ROM (running on Windows XP) and tried to see it on another PC using Adpatec Easy CD Creator (running on ME), I couldn't see anything. I couldn't see any files on Explorer as well. Under Explorer, the CD Properties shows as only 23MB eventhough the files contain on the CD exceed 100MB. Eventhough it shows 23MB, it does not show me any files on the CD!

Can someone help me sort these issues out. I'm very confused as to what to use when as I try to write and read the CDs in different platforms.

Appreciate any help! THANKS!

1. You do not need the software on each computer to view the contents of the cd, UNLESS you are using the cd a disk, like 'drag to disk' or as a floppy drive, reading and writing. If you burn the contents to the cd, any cd drive with read capability should be able to read it.

If it the contents is not burned, you will need your cd burner software and a a cd/rw drive to view it.

2. When you copied your cd, you probably just copied the contents to the cd, in a read write state that only the burning software can see, the contents needs to be burned.

Thanks for the reply.

1) You mean to say that IF I did a "drag to disc" I would not be able to view the contents in another PC if the contents is not burned and I will need my cd burner software and a a cd/rw drive to view it?

2) As for the other issue, I did burn the contents onto the CD. However, I was not able to see anything when I tried to view it on another PC. Any suggestions on what could have been done wrong?

Thanks again!

1) If you make the cd with UDF packet writing software, you need to 'finish' it before any other pc [without that specific software] can read it, but that machine may still needd a burner and/or software that can read UDF packet data.

2) Uncheck Simulation, check "Write" or "Burn" on the 'burn to disc' dialog. Don't use wizard, don't use express.

Yeah, the contents needs to be burned to the disk in order to view it on other computers with odinary cd drives. The contents can ONLY be viewed (when it is not burned) by other cd/rw drives with the same or similar software the was used to create the cd.
