What is a good PSU thats sorta cheap, that will handle a e6550 or maybe a E6750, a 8800GT, a p35 motherboard, some fans, 2 optical drives, one hard drive.

What price range are you looking at? With mail in rebates and vendor specials you can often get into a 450w upto 600w model for under the typical $70-$80 tag. A good make and model varies depending on the type of build and whether you plan to oc at all as well as any serious gaming or just occasional.

Review the sticky on choosing supplies and then look at a few links that can be posted after. http://www.computerforum.com/90118-useful-psu-case-guides.html

How about a $45 mail in rebate on one seen for $89.99? at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817171014

Rebates can take awhile however. I went the extra $40 back in August for the OCX GameXStream 700w model since I run two optical drives along with presently a single ide model and a pair of 500gb sata models. Eventually I plan to replace the ide with a pair of the new WD GP 1tb sized satas to expand quite a bit. But all this would see the need for a supply of 600w or more. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341002

One Cooler Master 550w model is seen for $69.99 at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817171016 while the rebate on the 650w model brings that down to $44.99.

For a stock build with only one HD and no cranking things up it will provide more then actually needed to run an 8800GT there. But the mail in wait is the thing that will take the time often. The advantage of having a heavier supply is when going to add drives or devices later the power connectors are available.

I just cleaned one system where the cheapo supply included with a case didn't even have a sata connector where the owner had to go out and buy a sata to ide converter there. If you upgrade the case in a year's time you will at least have something to work with at 650w.
