So, i play wow alot and my sister is always on facebook taking all the bandwidth. I can deal with this sometimes but i need to have low latency occasionally, is their any way i can cut her off from our router or some how rate how much bandwidth she can have? i know this sounds far fetched but this would really be a big help. Thanks for the help, all reply's appreciated.

Hahah, first of all, you're a bad brother for wanting to kick your sister off of the network. Second of all, here's how I would do it:
There is a program called Netcut that works great and is easy to use.
OR you could log in to your router and put a password on the wifi
OR you could simply block her machine on the router page

You want qos. Your router needs to support it. But then you can give specific sorts of traffic a higher priority. So you won't have to cut her off or do strange stuff to her computer.

is their any way to do this connected to said router wirlessly with the setup disc without messing anything up.. ex. redoing the whole thing setting new password etc?

You might want to check out the web interface of your router.

Press windows button + r and type "cmd" + enter. Then type "ipconfig" + enter. You need to find the default gateway (should be somewhat like 192.168.1.1). Type that in your web browser and you'll find all the settings your router has to offer.

alright i figured it out. just to be sure i did it right, i went into command prompt, typed (ipconfig /all |more) and then found physical address and put that as the highest priority, along with putting the name of my computer in the name slot. is that correct?

If you did that in your router config page you should be fine. Don't know every routers configuration from the top of my head. So to be sure you need to test.

Ive actually determined that my internet has been just bad lately, i scheduled appointment for someone to come fix the problem. but ive been meaning to give myself priority for awhile. i appreciate the help.
